Holiday Haul

hey huns!
At long last I have my beauty haul of things I bought on holidays. I actually had a penneys/primark haul but my iPod ran out of memory and I only realised this when editing, so I'm sorry about that! I hope you enjoy the haul and I'll see you in my next video or blogpost!

DIY: Ombre Shorts

Hi everyone! I’m really excited to be going a guest post on Kate’s blog. I decided to a DIY post on making your own ombre shorts. Enjoy! :)

Lately, I have absolutely loved seeing this trend. I think the vintage look is adorable. I've never done a "Do It Yourself" post before, so this will be my first one. I hope it turns out okay. If I didn't explain anything to clearly, just comment below, and I'll explain it to you the best I can.

Supplies:
A pair of shorts/jeans.
Bleach
Old Container
Tooth Brush
Water
Cute Studs (Optional)

1. The first thing I did was cut the shorts, so they hit a little lower than mid-thigh.

2. I filled an old container with bleach.

3. I placed the ends of the shorts in the bleach for 2 hours.

4. I then took a toothbrush and used it to fade it a little better at the top.

5. I rinsed it off with water.

6. After I rinsed it really well, I put in the washer and then the drier.

7. I rolled the bottom of the shorts up a little.

8. (Optional) In the end, I added stars to the one side, randomly, and on the other side, I added 5 stars right under the pocket. I am completely happy with the result.

I can't wait to wear them! Let me know if you try this out! I would love to see how yours turned out!

Thanks for reading!

Xoxo,

Alex :)

First Impression: Miss Sporty Hollwood Lipgloss

(Not my image. Found on Google)

hey huns!
So I was bored in the car and this lip gloss was in my bag so I thought why not do a first impression on it seeing as I hadn't tried it. The colour is so pretty and a bit sheer. (I blended my Revlon Lip Butter underneath beforehand) Its such a pretty coral colour and is lovely for summer. I feel its a little bit on the weighty side because I could feel it on my lips. The applicator doesn't take much product, but that's actually ok because its quite glossy and a little bit goes a long way. I said this in the video, but I am more of a lipstick person. (This is funny because I used to hate lipstick. Lipgloss was my go to.) So I give the product 7/10 because if the heaviness  and its a lil sticky!

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you want to see more first impressions, then just tell me! There's also the video too so you can see what its like.

Not giving a Sh*t, Bullying and Being You

hey huns,
so this post was inspired by a few things this week. I was watching an early video by meghanrosette on not giving a f*ck and then Grace did a post on bullying and her experience. You should all go read her post because it is so inspiring and she is so brave to put that up on the internet for anyone to see. I've just read it and it has really pushed/inspired me to do this post.

Bullying
Not acceptable. In any way, shape or form. Its nasty and disgusting and makes my skin crawl. I have experienced it, majorly in primary school where I would be picked on. Also in first year a girl came up to me and said "(name) said you were ugly" and i just sort of shrugged it off. But later on in the year I was called 'nerd' and 'brainbox' and although it may seem minor comments or a "joke" to them, it was quite hurtful and upsetting to me. I was almost in tears when telling a year head who is also the guidance counciller when she brought us in to see how first year was going, and only then did I realise how hurt and upset I actually was. There was also a person who I thought was my friend. Some days this person would randomly give me the silent treatment with no warning. We stopped being friends before Christmas and since then *touch wood* there's been no drama.

Thats all behind me now and hopefully finished. For second year I had a totally different outlook and nothing was going to get me down. I started to care less. And that brings me on to the next thing I want to talk about.

Not Giving A Sh*t
SO yeah. This is a big thing. And I'm just gonna say I haven't totally mastered this yet,
I'm still uncomfortable in my own skin, how I look, but what teenage girl isn't?
When it comes to me, I've just about stopped caring what people think. Really, I know people don't like me, people who haven't even talked to me. So what reason do they have? None at all. Even in first year we had to talk in twos in SPHE and the person I was paired with did exactly this: turned its back and ignored me. The teacher couldn't believe it and said how rude it was. At the time I was shocked and sort of hurt about it, I just didn't know why this person didn't like me and I still don't. But i don't care anymore. Not everyone will like you. Sad but true. People will always have something bad to say. Some people may talk, but why do they do that? Being petty, jealous, peer preassure, the list goes on and none are a good enough excuse.

I went to my first underage club last Halloween. I was so conscious like omg what would happen if people saw me dance? :O
Well I went to my next one at the end of my summer exams and thought eff that, I'm gonna dance because I like having fun and meghan made this point in her video, whose going to remember me dancing idiotically in 10,20,30 years time? I mean these days people get so caught up in what people think and teenage girls are the worst. I was walking down the mainstreet in my nearest town alone and two girls walking past pointed at the wall beside me. WOW! A white wall! Never seen one of them before...
People are gonna talk and bitch, but should that really affect who you are and who you are gonna be in the future? I hope not. Don't let those people bring you down, and especially not to bring you down to their level.

Being You
I like trends in fashion. But don't just do a trend because it is a trend. I always try to make sure that I do something quirky, even if its tiny. Because that is individuality. And you shouldn't let a single person stop you from being you. You are an amazing person. Think about it! No one else out there has your exact face, your personality, your finger print! You are your own person and have amazing characteristics. Even when you feel as if you are nothing, or are feeling ugly, or feeling down, just look in the mirror and compliment you're self. You might have beautiful eyes, naturally straight teeth, great hair, a great figure, anything! We are all beautiful in so many differing characteristics and we have to remember this.

I know this is a long post, but I've been wanting to do this for so long. Grace was brave enough to do hers, so I am going to be too. So thank you to Grace for being so inspiring and strong and to MeghanRosette who taught me not to care and actually live. Also, thank you to my mother who was always there when I was feeling down and said so many true words. So yeah. Thats my post and its longer than I thought it would be.

Summer Stylespiration

hey huns!
I am sorry for not blogging in 6 days (yikes!). This post is summer stylespiration from shops that are in Ireland. Each outfit is a different theme and I'm starting with New Look.

From New Look: Festival Style

So this is a laid back look. The pink shorts really set off the pink flowers on the Doc Martens. I also paired it with a white crop top to match the boots and to finish it off I added a navy parka because festivals are known for rain. (Docs aren't from New Look)

River Island: Vintage Florals

This is my favourite of all three outfits. In my opinion this is a very pretty girly outfit. The green skirt looks lovely against the florals on the top and I paired it with a bowler hat & some brogues for that vintage vibe.

TopShop: Mint Candy
The pattern on the pinafore reminds me of a sweety wrapper (hence the name) and paired with the lace top makes it even prettier. To finish it off I added frilly socks with some lo top cream Converse.

So I hope you enjoyed this Summer Stylespriration post. Comment below you're favourite outfit!

KraftyKate: Tee Renovation

hey huns!
(Haven't done a Krafty Kate in ages.)
So a few days ago I was going to throw away some tops but because thats b o r i n g I decided to renovate them instead! These are 4 tops I never wear, but after changing them, I think I might.
1. tassels

This was a plain grey tank that was lying at the bottom of my wardrobe.
(from Dunnes)
what I did
I cut 2-3cm wide and about 10cm upwards to create the tassel look. I did this the whole way along the bottom of the tank.
how I will wear it now
this will look good with a high waisted skirt or high waisted shorts - very festivalish too!

2. muscle tee
An old tee that I haven't worn in years.
(from Penneys/Primark)
what I did
I used missmeghanmakeups method of using another muscle tee to act as a guide. It worked great.
how I will wear this
with a bandeau underneath, this top is going to go with so so much! Jeans, shorts, skirts ANYTHING!

3. off the shoulder
I love the colour but never wore it - seemed too clingy.
(from New Look)
what I did
I measured out 4cm from the collar, used a marker to dot around the collar until the dots met and CHOP CHOP!
how I will wear this
this is super casual, so jeans I s'pose!

4. Crop top
You can't see it from the picture, but this top was high low. I didn't like it!
(From H&M)
what I did
I cut right underneath the nail varnish bottle thats printed on it. All though I didn't like the shape of the tee, doesn't mean I didn't like the design!
how I will wear this
this will probably look best with anything highwaisted.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
